Small Right Green Arrow How do I get help?

Contact a CGMA Representative. To find your local Representative, ask at your unit, call CGMA Headquarters, at 1-800-881-2462, or click here to see a list of Representatives. Eligible individuals need not have contributed to CGMA to receive assistance.

Small Right Green Arrow What if I'm deployed or underway and my spouse needs emergency assistance?

If your spouse has a power of attorney or Pre-Authorization Form (CGMA Form 16), CGMA can provide assistance, as needed, up to such limits as may be specified in the power of attorney or Pre-Authorization Form.  CGMA can provide a one-time emergency loan of up to $200 to the spouse if there is no power of attorney or Pre-Authorization Form and you cannot be contacted.

Small Right Green Arrow Where do CGMA funds come from?

Support for CGMA comes from:

  • Voluntary contributions from the Coast Guard family.
  • Repayment of CGMA interest-free loans
  • Investment income
  • Unsolicited contributions

CGMA does not receive any appropriated or non-appropriated government funds.

Small Right Green Arrow What's CGMA's record of assistance?

  • CGMA has provided over $133 million in financial assistance since 1924.
  • In recent years, CGMA has provided $30.6 million in interest-free loans, almost $500,000 in personal grants, and over $2.3 million in supplemental education grants and education loan origination fee reimbursements.
  • At any point in time, approximately one-third to one half of CGMA's net worth is out in loans.

Small Right Green Arrow Why an annual fundraising campaign?

Without an annual infusion of funds, CGMA would eventually deplete it funds and be unable to provide assistance. Also, the campaign helps raise awareness of the array of assistance available from CGMA.
