Education Advocate Grant

Many families struggle with federally mandated paperwork for special needs services. It can be even harder for Coast Guard families as they move so frequently. This grant offers reimbursement for costs of hiring a certified Education Advocate to help with the process.

Contact your CGMA Representative to start the process.

What's Covered?

  • Costs for hiring a certified Education Advocate.
  • Evaluation for either an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) for dependents 3 and older or an Individual Family Support Plan (IFSP) for dependents 0 to 3.
  • Either the first IEP/IFSP or a new plan when relocating to a new school district (limited to once per relocation and once per calendar year).
  • $500 per special needs dependent. A family with two special need dependents may receive up to $1000, but only $500 per dependent.
