CGMA offers short-term help with food, shelter, utilities, and necessities in lots of unforeseen circumstances. Personal funds may have been lost or stolen or used for another emergency, a roommate may have left, or a spouse may be temporarily out of work.

College costs are a challenge, whether for yourself, your spouse, or your children. CGMA members can borrow up to $6,000 for higher education expenses.

Many families finance higher education through the Federal Stafford Loan or Federal Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS). CGMA makes the process easier by offering a grant to reimburse you for the mandatory loan fee, which can be up to 4%.

You can make a real difference in your financial situation through financial education and counseling. It works best if spouses attend together. CGMA makes it a little bit easier by providing for childcare.

Education and budgeting can make all the difference in your financial situation. If a member is unable to use financial counseling from Coast Guard sources, CGMA will pay for services from a member of the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC).

CGMA supports its members as they work on their financial resilience. The Debt Management Loan helps create the minimum financial condition to allow the client to live frugally while paying off debts responsibly.

As baby boomers age, more Americans are facing the costs of elder care. CGMA is there as always, providing interest-free loans for costs like installing specialized equipment or moving an elderly and/or disabled family member.
